Amy Ehlers joined Block & Company, Inc., Realtors in 2002 as an Executive Assistant to David M. Block. Over the years, she advanced through several roles within the company and, in 2016, was promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance and Development. In this role, Amy collaborates with banks and commercial lenders to arrange loans of various sizes and types for investment and development properties managed by Block & Company. She also works closely with the Construction & Development department to create budgets, perform cost analyses, and coordinate project financing.
As Senior Vice President of Finance and Development, Amy's responsibilities include facilitating public incentives such as Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Community Improvement Districts (CID), and Transportation Development Districts (TDD). This involves collaborating with property owners, attorneys, and municipalities across the Kansas City metropolitan area throughout the approval process and beyond. Additionally, Amy serves on the boards of several Missouri CIDs within the Kansas City metro area.
In addition, Amy also manages Block & Company's brokerage support team and works closely with Block's supervising brokers to ensure that company forms and procedures are in accordance with changing real estate commission guidelines.
After four years on the CREW Kansas City Board of Directors, Amy will begin her term as President in 2025. Prior to this, she served for three years as Chair and Co-Chair of the golf committee. CREW Kansas City is the leading organization for senior-level executive women in the Kansas City commercial real estate field. It promotes the highest standards of ethics and integrity and seeks to positively influence the direction of Kansas City's commercial real estate industry and community.
In 2023, Amy also had the privilege to serve on the CREW Network Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee. This committee selects the female commercial real estate student scholars to be awarded $5,000 or $10,000 annual scholarships the charitable arm of CREW Network awards each year. Through 2024, the Foundation has given 296 scholarships totaling $1,700,000 USD.
