is proud to announce our role as the exclusive leasing brokerage of the $250 million proposed SouthPointe @ 63rd Street Development project. Located at the NWC of 63rd Street and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, SouthPointe is strategically located just to the North of the Research Medical Center campus and features great visibility and access to 71 Highway.
UrbanAmerica, a Miami-based developer in charge of the project, teamed up with Jay Barry
and David M. Block
of Block & Company, Inc., Realtors to handle the leasing and representation needs of the 800,000 square foot proposed mixed-use development. The proposed "live-work-play" community includes retail, restaurant, hotel, multifamily, and office space spanning the 31.5 acre site.
UrbanAmerica is currently working with the City Planning Department for zoning change and entitlement, which they anticipate will be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2022. Additionally, KCATA will be adding a stop to the Prospect MAX line at 63rd Street, making this a Transit Oriented Development (TOD).SouthPointe @ 63rd Street
will be a multiyear construction project with several project phases. The first phase is expected to break ground in the near future, beginning with a 250 unit apartment complex, a 114 key extended stay hotel, and a major office component that will be announced in the near future. The development will showcase multiple architectural features throughout the property that will reflect the history of the surrounding area.
Once complete, SouthPointe will be a major draw to the area and serve as the cornerstone of new commercial development along 63rd Street, which is the main transportation artery that connects Brookside to the entertainment attractions located within Swope Park. With Research Medical Center to the South, Starlight Amphitheater and the Kansas City Zoo to the East, and Brookside to the West, SouthPointe will bring a high demand of new business generators, employers, and residents to the area. Block & Company believes that SouthPointe @ 63rd Street could also create a ripple effect of new economic growth along Prospect Avenue as a byproduct of this urban infill project.UrbanAmerica
