Desi Chowrastha, an Indian eatery chain based in Texas, has secured their first Kansas City-area location located at 6301 W. 135th Street, Overland Park, KS. A grand opening is anticipated to take place in early summer 2025.
Desi Chowrastha will be the largest Indian restaurant in Overland Park, spanning 7,564 square feet. The restaurant will be situated in an approximately 15,500-square-foot pad building at Corbin Park Retail Village and will join building co-tenants American Red Cross, Mozari Alterations, and Embody. Corbin Park is also home to Sheels, JCPenny, Von Maur, Lifetime Fitness, Dave & Busters, Sprouts Farmers Market, Kirkland's, ULTA Beauty, and many more.
Desi Chowrastha is an access-based fast food chain that gives attention to the diversified food and culture of various cities in India. With the touch of southern spices, they aim to deliver dishes that cater to South Asian, local, and international food enthusiasts. Their mission is to revive the culture of 'Chowrastha' and Indianness through food, fresh groceries, halal meat, and a vibrant atmosphere.
The name "Desi Chowrastha" is derived from "Desi," a word used to describe the people, cultures, and products of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and "Chrowrastha," a word used to communicate the joint to hang out with friends and how Indian culture evolved around them.
The menu features a variety of kabobs, curries, appetizers, and sandwiches. They are famous for their authentic biryani. Desi Chowrastha currently has 25 franchisees across America, with many others under contract.
